• Bring your student ID, it’ll get you into museums for a reduced fare
• Bring sunscreen, sunglasses
• Tipping
  • Restaurants: most add a 15% service fee automatically, so tipping is 5%-10% (depending on service) is sufficient if service is deserving; I often just round up the bill to the next whole Euro
  • Cabs: 10% (though Italians rarely tip them)
  • Bathrooms: often there is an attendant whom you must pay to pee
• Blu-Rays and DVDs have a different code in Europe and may not play on your home player
• Sandals:
  • handy when going to the beach, as well as for wandering in and around the hotel/hostel
  • bring a cheap pair and you can always leave them behind in order to pack your purchases
