- Restaurants: most add a 15% service fee automatically, so tipping is 5%-10% (depending on service) is sufficient if service is deserving; I often just round up the bill to the next whole Euro
- Cabs: 10% (though Italians rarely tip them)
- Bathrooms: often there is an attendant whom you must pay to pee
- DVDs have a different code in Europe and may not play on your home player
- Sandals:
- handy when going to the beach, as well as for wandering in and around the hotel
- bring a cheap pair and you can always leave them behind in order to pack your purchases
